Covid-19 Secure Procedures for Sellers

Entries accepted by appointment subject to suitability and space available.

Wednesday, Thursday & Friday - 10am - 3pm

Saturday & Monday - 10am - 12.30pm

As a condition of re-opening, all businesses are required by law to put in place measures to ensure they meet the Covid-19 Secure Guidelines to protect the health and wellbeing of their staff, customers and other visitors.

It is therefore a legal requirement that customers and visitors, as well as employees, must comply with the measures and good practice adopted by Stephen Roberts (Auctioneer) Limited to to prevent the spread of Covid-19.

  ANYONE REFUSING TO COMPLY WILL BE DENIED ENTRY OR ASKED TO LEAVE

PLEASE WEAR A FACE COVERING WHEN ATTENDING THE SALEROOMS

Our new procedures are designed to ensure we minimise the amount of time sellers need to spend at the Salerooms. We will be operating a ‘Drop and Go’ system to reduce contact time between staff and customers and maintain Social Distancing.

Our selling space has been reduced to allow for Social Distancing. We can therefore only accept items we are confident we can sell so may reject items at the door. Please do not be offended as it will save you the inconvenience of coming back to collect items.

·       ALL SELLERS MUST MAKE AN APPOINTMENT TO BRING GOODS TO THE SALEROOMS

We will be offering 30-minute ‘windows’ for your arrival. When booking a slot, please tell us which section the majority of lots you are bringing will be for:

Tables & Cabinets - Furniture - Electrical Items & Household Sundries - Outside Yard & Tools.

 

·       PLEASE PREAPRE A LIST OF ENTRIES TO BRING WITH YOU

ü  Put your Name, Address, Telephone Number and email Address (if you have one) at the top.

ü  Items of significance that you would prefer to be sold individually, should be listed separately along with any reserve price required (See note on reserves below)

ü  If you are happy to leave it to us to unpack and sort your lots, you do not need to list box contents.

eg: ‘6 Boxes of China’ or ‘3 Boxes of Tools’ will be sufficient.

ü  Your list and lots will be allocated a Vendor ID number before you leave.

ü  Keep a copy of your list or take a photo on your mobile phone.

ü  Any discrepancies will be notified once items have been unpacked.

ü  If you wish to discuss reserves etc please telephone the Auctioneer between 3pm & 5pm rather than while you are delivering to the Salerooms.

 

Reserves: When entering items for sale, vendors may ask us not to sell an item unless it reaches an agreed minimum price - this is called the 'Reserve'. It is Saleroom policy to offer lots for two sales at their reserve price. If items remain unsold after two sales, and are not collected by the vendor on the Wednesday following the second auction, they will be offered for a third sale at the Auctioneer's discretion and may be sold for less than the reserve price. It is the seller's responsibility to contact the salerooms to find out if items have sold.

 

·       ON ARRIVAL, PLEASE REPORT TO RECEPTION OR AT THE FRONT ROLLER- SHUTTER DOOR.

PLEASE DO NOT UNLOAD UNTIL INVITED TO DO SO BY A MEMBER OF STAFF

You may have a short wait while a previous customer finishes unloading in order to maintain Social Distancing.

Customers arriving late or without an appointment or list will be asked to return to their vehicle, complete a list if necessary, and wait in their vehicle until the next available slot.

Please let us know if you cannot make your appointment so we can give it to another customer.

 

·       IF POSSIBLE, PLEASE SANITISE AND PACK YOUR ITEMS AT LEAST 72hrs BEFORE BRINGING THEM TO THE SALEROOMS

ü  It would be helpful if you would indicate on your list when the items were packed.

ü  We reserve the right to refuse any items that are, in our opinion, not in a suitable condition to be handled safely.

ü  We reserve the right to delay unpacking items to allow time for any potential contamination risk to subside, even if that means holding them over for a subsequent Auction.

 

OUR CHARGES

PLEASE NOTE: In order to offset the increased costs of operating under Covid 19 Secure conditions, we have no option but to make a small increase to our minimum commission charge, from £1.00 plus VAT per lot to £1.25 plus VAT per lot in order to ensure the business remains viable going forward.

We hope you will understand our position and we assure you we are still committed to:

NO ENTRY FEES – NO LISTING FEES – NO CHARGES FOR INSURANCE OR PHOTOGRAPHY

COMMISSION – 15% plus VAT on the hammer price (equivalent to 18p per £1.00) with a minimum charge of £1.25 plus VAT per lot – Sold or Unsold. We will only charge you once we have done some work for you (except Vehicles)

VEHICLES A £10 Entry Fee is payable in cash when you bring the vehicle for sale, but the Commission charge is reduced to 10% plus VAT (equivalent to 12p per £1.00). We cannot sell your vehicle without the complete V5 Logbook.

ELECTRICAL SAFETY TESTING: To comply with current legislation, all electrical items entered for sale must be tested for electrical safety by our qualified electrician. There is a charge of £2.00 per item with a further 50p payable if an item requires a replacement plug.

 

PAYMENT OPTIONS

Please access the pay-office via the front door. To maintain Social Distancing, please queue outside down the outdoor ramp if the maximum occupancy in the foyer is reached.

CASH PAYMENT: Up to a maximum of £200.00 per auction per customer, can be collected in person on Thursdays 10am-12 noon and any following Tuesday 9am – 7pm (not the day on which they are sold).

BACS PAYMENTS: Please email administrator@thesalerooms.co.uk. You must provide the correct Account Name, Sort Code and Account Number. Please also tell us which auction(s) the items were sold in, the name they were booked in under if different from the Account Name and if possible the Vendor ID Number you were given when the items were booked in.

CHEQUE PAYMENTS: Please email administrator@thesalerooms.co.uk or telephone 01953 885676. You must provide the correct Payee Name and the Address the cheque should be sent to.  Please also tell us which auction(s) the items were sold in, the name they were booked in under if different from the Account Name and if possible the Vendor ID Number you were given when the items were booked in.
